Professional Background
Ms. Reid is a playwright, producer and director. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management in May of 2000, after attending Prince Georges College and the University of Maryland. In 2001 Roxanne established SouthernGal Productions, which marked the launch of her own production company. After dedicating 34 years to the Federal Government, she retired in 2018 to pursue her passion for writing, directing, and producing full-time.
She produced talent shows, fashion shows, comedy shows, Plays and Skits. She has written several skits for various churches and fellow producers. In 2010 she was challenged to produce a skit, “Things Are Not Always What They Seem” for Howard University’s Fundraiser Banquet for their first AIDS conference.
Theater Experience
Roxanne has been actively involved in theater since 2011, writing, directing, and producing eight stage plays. Her faith-based productions have been performed at renowned venues, including The Publick Playhouse for The Performing Arts in Cheverly, Maryland, The Suitland Annabelle E. Ferguson Auditorium, New Song Bible Fellowship Church, and a variety of other churches across the Metropolitan Area.
She is currently working on her first musical stage production, “My Brother’s Keeper”, scheduled to be performed in 2027.
Drama Ministry Experience
Between October 2016 and October 2022, Roxanne led the Drama Ministry at New Song Bible Fellowship Church in Lanham, Maryland. In this capacity, she was responsible for writing, producing, and directing a range of programs. Her creative portfolio included Christmas productions, plays commemorating Black history, and missionary-themed skits, all designed to enrich both the spiritual and cultural life of the church community.
Film Production Experience
In February 2023, Roxanne produced and directed her inaugural faith-based film, “A Mother’s Daughter”. The movie has been available on Tubi since July 2023, where it has attracted more than 6 million views. Following this achievement, Roxanne released the sequel, “A Mother’s Daughter – Forgiveness”, in April 2026.

The Gospel Comedian Gertha Mae Brown “Gertie”
“Gertie” has performed at the Federal Aviation Administration’s Combined Federal Campaign fundraisers, The National Coast Guard, Refreshing Spring Church in Riverdale Maryland, Mt. Calvary Church, Eastern Community Church and the Publick Playhouse in Cheverly Maryland.
She has also performed for nursing homes in Washington, D.C. for their Black History Programs. She loves laughter and has been performing since 2000.
